Organizing principles for systems:
Rouge Access Points (2005/9/7)

According to google and other search engines, there appears to be increasing interest in rouge access point detection.

For example, a Cisco data sheet indicates that the location of unknown radios are shown (in a reddish-orange color):

Figure 1. CiscoWorks WLSE Location View Displays Rouge Access-Point Location

The Aironet 350 access point "depends on LEAP enabled clients to report rouge access points", and the "Proxim ORiNOCO AP-700 delivers standard 802.11b/g/a, IEEE 802.11i, and rouge AP detection".

It could be simply a case of spellcheckers allowing rouge

of a reddish pink color

in place of rogue

operating outside of normal controls

or a deliberate cross-language allusion to a 'red team' (aka tiger team)

security experts who role play an adversary's attempt to compromise security

through a new meaning of the rouge(fr) adjective, besides the traditional

whose ideology is symbolized by a red flag
